Well...the pack-out is complete and our household goods should arrive mid-April. Instead of packing and moving everything in two short days, the movers ended up doing everything in one really loooong day...and what a day it was! But it's done and now I can relax some....can I get a huge HALLELUAH!!!!!!
Jessica and I said our farewells to Virginia Beach and drove across 264 heading out of town for the final time on Friday morning. I wanted to cry but I'm too darn excited about everything, lol! We made our way down to GA to visit with Katherine and her family for a couple of days. Then it was up to Scottsboro to visit with mom and dad.
The week has been spent not doing much of anything which I am quite enjoying. I needed a well-deserved break after all the events of the past several weeks! We did manage a trip to Huntsville yesterday afternoon...Target and Olive Gardern! My idea of perfection...or at least pretty close to it!
Karla and the girls should be here tomorrow and staying through the weekend. I know Jessica is looking forward to seeing them just as much as I am! Did I mention Grandma Kathy is here too? I'm trying to savor every moment with all of my family cause I know it will be a *while* before I see everyone again!

Almost Done!
My back hurts...my feet hurt...I am mentally and physically exhausted. I couldn't begin to list everything I've done today in preparation for the move...and packing not only summer clothes to take with us to Guam but also winter clothes to last us the next 2wks. Oiy!!! Just thinking about it all gives me the beginnings of a headache!
I'm so glad and relieved it's almost done. As of right now, all I have left to do is unplug all the electronics before I go to bed and then pack our bathroom bag in the morning. The movers will be here tomorrow to pack our household goods and then Wed. to load everything into the moving truck. Thank goodness all I have to do is supervise!
Oh...I was finally able to pick up mine and Jessica's passports and schedule our flights to Guam. We will be leaving on March 4 out of Nashville, TN which means I'll be leaving here on Thurs to head back down south to visit with family and friends for a couple of weeks before we leave the states. YAY!!!

UPDATE!!!
I know, I know...finally, right? I am SOOOO far behind in writing a "real" update that I don't even know where to begin!!!
Well....
Medical suitability screenings were completed in Dec. and we were all found "suitable" for overseas assignment. Thank goodness because six shots between the three of us and having to physically hold Jessica down twice in two days is NOT my idea of fun!
Our Kia Sportage was shipped at the end of Dec. and arrived in Guam last week...2 wks earlier than expected...YAY!
Our express shipment (linens, towels, dishes, cookware, etc.) was packed and shipped at the end of Dec as well and also arrived last week.
We took transfer leave during January in which we spent loads of time with our family and friends.
Jeff flew out of Jackson, MS on Jan 28th headed for Guam and arrived there safely 20 something hours later...can I just say how much I'm not looking forward to that flight...with Jessica... all by myself!
Jessica and I are currently back in VaBeach finishing the pack-out. The pre-inspection for our household goods move was yesterday, the storage move is tomorrow, and the actual packing and moving of everything else will be next week. During all this time, I'm still waiting to collect mine and Jessica's passports and make our flight arrangements...which isn't going all that smoothly right now....go figure!
Jeff has been busy checking into his new command, registering the Kia in Guam, and also house-hunting for rentals since we opted out of base-housing. He has found us a lovely 3 bdrm, 2 bath house in a rather new subdivision about 15 minutes from base. The pictures look GREAT! He's already signed the lease and is currently working on all the security deposits. Scheduled move-in date is Feb. 19th! Our express shipment as well as loaner furniture will also be delivered that day.
Whew!!! I'm sure there's some minor things that I've probably forgotten about over the past 6wks but that's the majority of it! I'm really gonna try to keep this updated better...I hope!

IT'S SNOWING!!!
I can't believe it!!! My wish came true...looks like I'm getting one final snow storm before I move to a tropical climate for 3yrs. Pretty amazing considering Virginia Beach hasn't had one for about 5yrs now...except for last weekend, lol, in which we weren't even here to experience it...soooo not fair especially since all we got in AL was sleet and ice. I hope my munchkin wakes up soon so she can see all this BEAUTIFUL snow!!!
